What’s Coming In Call Of Duty?

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2

Here’s everything announced during Activision’s Call of Duty livestream.

The nights are drawing in and there’s a chill in the air, which can mean only one thing - the annual Call of Duty hype-train has left the station and the next instalment of Activision’s behemoth is almost here. To celebrate this the studio chucked a bunch of information at us like a primed grenade.

First up Warzone 2.0 will launch on 16th November, two weeks after the release of Modern Warfare 2 on 28th October. Both games will share the same engine to ensure more consistency across the board. Warzone 2.0 will also introduce a new map, called Al Mazrah, as well as a new twist on the battle royale formula. There’ll be a new AI faction who will guard loot-filled Strongholds. A new sandbox mode called DMZ will also be thrown into the mix, although details were a bit light on the ground for this one. Not only that, but Warzone 2.0 will also bring a third-person mode with it. Modern Warfare 2 will also get some third-person mode playlists for good measure.

And if you can’t wait until 28th October then good news! Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 gets an open beta this weekend. Guinea pigs, sorry, players can expect to try out Ground War mode, with 32v32 battles on Sariff Bay. If smaller scale battles are your thing then fear not, you can try out 6v6 matches too. These will take place on Valderas Museum, Farm 18 and Mercado Las Almas.

And finally Call of Duty Warzone: Mobile was announced. It’ll have some shared features with its console counterparts and promises cross-progression. It’s being developed by a whole host of studios, including Beenox and Digital Legends. It should be out on iOS and Android next year.
