News: Announcing Azul: Queen’s Garden

We’re heading back to the palace of Sintra. But this time, it’s not to design the stained glass displays in the chapel, but to design the royal garden. The King wants to impress his beloved Queen and so has ordered construction on the most extraordinary garden for her. Announced this week by publishers Next Move Games, Azul: Queen’s Garden is the latest in the series, and this time players will be curating a royal garden for the Queen Maria of Aragon. Using the same tile drafting and placing mechanics as its predecessors, Queen’s Garden has players adorning their gardens with plants, trees, and other ornamental features in a bid to impress the Queen.

Busting Out New Shapes

With its hexagonal tiles and slightly different board layout, Queen’s Garden may look slightly aesthetically different to past Azul games, however, the mechanics that drive the game are much the same. The drafting system is the same across all games in the Azul family. Fans of the previous iterations of the game should be right at home decorating their garden.  While no specific release date has been announced yet, Azul: Queen’s Garden is expected to hit the shelves by the end of the year. Not only will this bring a great new Azul game to the market just in time for Christmas, but it will hopefully bring a drop of Portuguese sunshine to our icy winter weather.
