Wingspan Asian Expansion Announced

Fresh off the presses of the press releases has some corners twittering. Specifically, Elizabeth Hargrave tweeted about a brand new expansion for one of her most beloved game – Wingspan. Of course we're talking about the Wingspan Asian Expansion!

A whole new continent has been announced by Stonemaier Games, introducing the ecology of the Asian bird to the engine-building bird-based behemoth that has already brought European and Oceania expansions to the original based in the Americas. Not much has been announced as of yet, with just one bird revealed in the release. (The Indian Peafowl, if you’re interested!) Jamie Stegmaier dropped the teaser and discussed a little more in a Facebook live video, but it was very much an early teaser. More details are expected to drop in the coming months, with a new bird revealed in each of the Stonemaier monthly newsletters. Keep your eyes peeled for an early Q4 release!

In addition, Stonemaier dropped the news of a Nesting Box for Wingspan, which will include a copy of the Wingspan Asian Expansion in the first printing. The Nesting Box is an organiser for Wingspan and its expansions, in line with the Wine Crate that was released along with Viticulture World. There are a few interesting components in the box, including organisers for all of the components and cards for the base game and the now three expansions. Interestingly, reading through the FAQ’s, the Nesting Box is being described as designed for “all past, present and future” expansions. Plenty of fun stuff coming from Stonemaier in the run up to Christmas so get ready for the birds to burst onto our tables.
