Bush’s Board Game Thing Episode 26: The Jessocalypse

Bush's board game thing episode 26
bush's board game thing episode 26

Get down to the funky beat! Bush's Board Game Thing sees Andy Bush celebrating board games and the experience of gaming with friends Jess Temby and Brian Murphy. Each week, expect passion, enthusiasm, and multiple trips through gaming wormholes. This podcast is powered by Zatu - we're making sure the board game cogs keep on turning. Each week, I'll be bringing you the best bits here on the blog and letting you shop the podcast! Bush's Board Game Thing Episode 26 is all about musical games!

Do you have something that you'd like to share with the team? Maybe a great board game idea? Even when and where you like to listen to the podcast, set the scene. Email [email protected] if you want to get involved with the podcast. For example, if you have any board game disputes, let Andy and co get to the bottom of it!

This week's theme was chosen by Jess as it is her last show for the foreseeable future (booo!). For her farewell bash, Jess chose games all about bops and bangers. The gang has a riot this week talking about a couple of their favourite musical games, and a few out-of-theme ones on their hotlist.

Muso DJ

Kicking the show off is Muso DJ. This game requires users to have access to some music playing device or platform. Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and Youtube would all work!

How it works is a player will select a card with a theme on it such as, 'Guilty pleasures,' or, 'Long songs." This player must then select a song that fits in with the theme. The other players can grab 1 point for guessing the artist, 1 point for guessing the song title, and a third if they can guess the theme. The song player must play songs that fit into the theme until it is guessed correctly.

This is an excellent trivia game for any age or any level of music knowledge as the players have a say in what is played and can tune it to suit their tastes.

What Do You Meme?

Following on with the farewell party theme, on Bush's hotlist is What Do You Meme? As punny as its name suggests, in What Do You Meme? The aim of the game is to produce the funniest or punniest caption for the photograph in front of you. Each round sees a different player choosing the funniest caption, so everybody in the group gets a chance to produce and judge.

What Do You Meme? is an excellent addition to any party or group gathering, and will have you laughing for hours on end.

Rhino Hero Super Battle

Another game sure to bring laughs to the table. Like Jenga, but in reverse, Rhino Hero Super Battle challenges players building skills as they race to be the first to construct all their roof tiles and reach the top of the tower. Watch out though, if someone is to make the tower collapse, they immediately lose and are eliminated.

Goodbyes

Episode 26 of Bush's Board Game Thing sees the gang play and discuss a whole range of fun and hilarious games. However, all are played with a heavy heart as it is time to say goodbye to beloved co-host, Jess, at least for now. Zatu Games would like to thank Jess for everything she has brought to the game table and wish her luck in her next endeavor. You will be sorely missed!
