Yu-Gi-Oh! Legendary Deck II Preview

yi gi oh

“It’s time to d-d-d-d-duel!” is likely the first (and most iconic) sentence that comes to mind to each duellist when they think about Yu-Gi-Oh! and its rich story line. And what would be the most iconic monsters/cards among the thousands of those released in the more than 25 years of this game? If you ask me, I would probably say Dark Magician, Blue Eye- White Dragon and Red-Eye Black Dragon as they are the monsters beloved by the three main characters from the Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters ark.

In fact, the decks used by Yugi, Kaiba and Joey were so loved by the fans of the series that Konami dedicated the second box set of the Legendary Deck collection to them in 2016. If you don’t remember or you have never heard of them, Legendary Deck was a series comprising four different sets released yearly from 2015 to 2018. Each of this special boxes featured three pre-constructed decks centred around very popular characters or monsters and they usually included some nice promo or special art cards that made these sets extremely collectible.

I managed to get a reprint copy of the first set, Yu Gi Oh! Yugi’s Legendary Decks, a few years ago and I am very happy that Konami will soon release a reprint of Yu Gi Oh! Legendary Decks II so I can finally add it to my collection.

What you should expect in the set? As said, the first edition of the box included three decks and three Secret Rare promotional cards: “Eternal Soul”, “Dark Burning Attack”, and “Dark Burning Magic”. Previously re-printed sets kept all the content of the original first edition thus there should be no reason to expect any change in content other than the lack of the “1st edition” stamp on the cards. The other aspect that should not change is the very cool-looking Legendary Decks box itself: a golden cardboard box adorned with hieroglyphs and a picture of the three series’ protagonists, Yugi, Kaiba and Joey.

The three decks featured in this set will include:

1) A 43-card Deck based on Yugi’s “Exodia the Forbidden One” and “Dark Magician” and therefore will feature the five parts of Exodia, the Silent Magician cards and the always beloved Dark Magician Girl together with a lot of cards to summon and protect your spell caster monsters. The deck also includes tournament-legal versions of the three Egyptian God cards and an Ultra Rare Yugi Token card together with Exodia Necross and “The Legendary Exodia Incarnate” that are alternate versions of the most powerfull Forbidden One.

2) A 43-card Deck based on Kaiba’s “Blue-Eyes White Dragon” thus including key cards like The White Stone of Legend”, “The White Stone of Ancients”, Protector with Eyes of Blue and “Maiden with Eyes of Blue” to quickly summon Kaiba’s favourite monster. The deck will also include a “Polymerization” card to bring out the terrifying “Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon” and an Ultra Rare Kaiba Token card.

3) A 43-card Deck based on Joey’s “Red-Eyes Black Dragon” and Gemini monsters. This deck includes some iconic cards Joey played in the series including Baby Dragon, Time Wizard and Kunai with chain. The star of the deck is of course Red-Eye Black Dragon and the deck is filled

with strong support cards to ensure this monster will stay on the field or can be brought back from the graveyard. There is also a copy for the very powerful Re-Eye Fusion plus an Ultra Rare Joey Token card to make this deck even better.
