Who is Vlaada Chvátil?
Vlaada Chvátil is a Czech board game and video game designer, working closely with publisher, Czech Games Edition. Some of his early board games include Prophecy, Merry Men of Sherwood and Arena: Morituri te Salulant.
However, his first big breakthrough game with Through the Ages: A Story of Civilzation. This was followed by successful titles such as Galaxy Trucker, Space Alert, Dungeon Lords, and the ever-popular Codenames.
Chvátil's games have a reputation for having innovative mechanics, strong theme, and humour within their rulebooks. He often divides his rulebooks into several learning scenarios, each of which add more rules to the game.

Codenames won the prestigious Spiel dea Jahres Award in 2016 - essentially crowning the party game as the "Game of the Year". Space Alert has also enjoyed success at the Spiel des Jahre, picking up the New Game Worlds Award in 2009. Galaxy Trucker was a nominee for the overall award in 2008.
A co-operative version of Codenames, known as Duet, won the Golden Geek Award for best two-player game of 2017.

Vlaada Chvátil has also designed several video games. His first video game was released in 1992, with his most well-known project was the real-time strategy game, Original War. This game was originally released in 2001 on the PC, with re-releases occuring in 2004 and 2008.
