Pokemon Paldean Fates Preview

Paldean Fates

Paldean Fates

Christmas is coming and with it the start of new exciting year for all Pokemon Players. While most of us are still hunting cards from the recent Paradox rift set (I am looking at you Roaring Moon ex), the Pokemon Company just announced the first set for 2024, Paldean fates. Paldean Fates is set to release on the 26th of January 2024 and it will be the sixth Pokemon Trading Card Game expansion in the Scarlet & Violet series and, being the first set of the year, it is expected to be a very special one.

From the information and pictures shared in the announcement, this set seems to follow the same structure of previous Fates expansions like Hidden Fates and Shining Fates thus focusing on basic Pokemon with different colour schemes. These shiny Pokemon are always very collectible and with over 100 of those, this set looks definitely appealing. A few very interesting cards have been revealed including an amazing Shiny Tera Charizard that is set to be among the most sought after cards in the expansion. Let’s review what we know so far!

What To Expect From Paldean Fates Set?

At the time of writing, there are over 240 cards teased for Paldean Fates, including more than 100 Shiny Pokémon cards. These last ones are likely to be from the Shiny Treasures ex collection set planned to release in Japan on December the 1st. Among the cards revealed so far the most notable are Shiny Pikachu, Shiny Ceruledge, Shiny Tinkaton, Shiny Dondozo and Shiny Tatsugiri together with the first Shiny Tera Pokémon EXs (Charizard, Forretress and Espathra). If this would not be already enough, it seems that some Pokémon EX will also be available on very-low pull rate rare cards, featuring unique raised foil effect.

Last but not least, among the new unique cards released in this set there will also be some that were left out of the recent release of Paradox Rift in the West. We should therefore expect to see more Ancient and Future Pokemons in this set to boost our games.

Of course, no Pokemon set would be completed without a Charizard card. In this case, we will be looking to an impressive Shiny Tera Charizard EX. This Dark type version of one of the most loved Pokemon is an alternative art of the one we saw in Obsidian Flames and it comes with 330 HP and the ability to search for 3 basic energy when it evolves from Charmeleon. To top up the excitement, a new collectible tin featuring this Pokemon will be made available in February and it is bound to fly off the shelves…

We will see more and more new cards revealed as we get close to the the launch date but so far there is plenty of reasons to be very excited.

All The Nice And Shiny Gems: Paldean Fates Bundles

In addition to the regular Booster Packs and Booster Packs bundle Paldean Fates will feature as usual an Elite Trainer Box. This time the set will feature a very nice Mimikyu illustration on box, sleeves and spacer and there will be also a rare promo card included in the set. Together with this standard bundles, a Sticker collection set will also be available on release. The set will include three booster packs, one Shiny promo card featuring either Fidough, Maschiff or Greavard, and one large sticker featuring the same Pokemon.

A few weeks after the main release, we will also get the tins and a Premium collection for Scarlet & Violet – Paldean Fates. The mini Tins will feature Maushold, Smoliv, Tinkatink, Finizen or Flamigo, while the collector Tins will feature one Shiny Pokémon ex promo card among Tera Charizard ex, Great Tusk ex or Iron Treads ex. The Premium Collection set will come as usual with eight Paldean Fates booster packs, two Shiny promo cards among Meowscarada ex, Skeledirge ex or Quaquaval ex and one corresponding oversize Shiny Pokémon ex card. If you can’t decide, and you love all these Pokemons you can take advantage of the 3-set offer on Zatu that is definitely an amazing way to get all your Paldea starters at once.
