News – Zombicide Presents ZombieFridays

ZombieFridays

ZOMBIEFRIDAYS ARE BACK!

I was thrilled to read on Instagram recently about some exciting news from CMON (Zombicide creators). They are bringing back their ZombieFridays feature which is truly awesome. It’s FREE stuff for all of us that own Zombicide.

What Is Zombicide?

For anyone unfamiliar with Zombicide I have blogged a little about it before. It is a huge chain of games now that has been immensely successful for the creators. In essence, it is a cooperative game for 1 to 6 players that compete against the hordes of the undead zombies. They are relentless in coming again and again. It is up to you as a team of survivors to complete the mission objectives and ultimately escape. There is no defeating the Zombies, get in, get the job done and get out (ideally alive!)

Since the original Zombicide came out in 2012, it was followed up with additional content and missions within expansions Toxic city mall and Prison Outbreak to name a couple, before, in 2021, getting a most welcome 2nd edition release which massively improved gameplay and brought new expansions with Fort Hendrix and Washington Z.C.

The game has been a huge success and because of this, CMON also created the medieval version of the game with Black Plague and a host of expansions associated with the dark ages. Then there was the futuristic Zombicide Invader which sees a Zombicide game set in a sci-fi future. More recently they created Undead or Alive with associated expansions, a little play on the Wild West there which is where this version is set. Most recently we’ve seen the Marvel Zombies and the recently successful kickstarter campaign of DCeased where CMON have smashed together Zombicide with the comic franchises to create some truly epic games.

I would consider every one of these editions a premium product as they are not cheap board games. If anyone out there has backed every kickstarter with all the additional content, I tip my hat to you, that is some collection you have.

The Free Stuff

So, it is very cool that CMON give back to their supporters in this FREE content available online. ZombieFridays will now see 2 free missions offered every week for the year of 2024. That is what their social media post has promised. Each week will be a surprise as to which edition of Zombicide gets the additional missions, they always have promoted it on their social media.

It’s important to note each edition comes with a series of missions to complete. They are all replayable as well because of so many variables in any one game. Characters selected have different skills to utilise. The weapons drawn will be different, the way in which the zombie hordes enter play will be different and more. So, there is plenty of challenge in the base games. However, bonus content is always great and CMON always create some comic like story with each mission, to help set the scene. They do this with the missions in the game and the free content already created to date. I always appreciate this because they are amusing stories with talented supporting art work. I’ve particularly enjoyed the Christmas festive bonus content.

Zombicide fans, keep an eye out every Friday for what CMON are releasing. To those that haven’t given Zombicide a try, I can highly recommend it.
