As we all know by now, Xbox Live members receive four new games for free each month - two on Xbox One and two on Xbox 360. Thanks to the Xbox One's backwards compatibility Xbox One players can also play the two free Xbox 360 games on their modern consoles.
That's the boring bit out of the way. Now let's check out the free games for October.
Super Mega Baseball: Extra Innings - Xbox One
A fun, easy-to-learn baseball game! This pretty much sums up Super Mega Baseball. If you are not interested in a serious baseball game and just want to have fun playing your favourite sport then this could be one for you.
The super cool cartoon players are a lot of fun - even when they are losing. If they strikeout they will hang their heads in shame and burst into tears! When the pressure gets too them they will also begin to sweat - a lot! There extra-sized bats also adds to the cartoon style of the game.
There are two main modes in Super Mega Baseball; Exhibition and Season - with 12 teams ready and waiting for you!
The Escapists - Xbox One
The Escapists is "an award winning prison break simulation that provides players the opportunity of experiencing a light-hearted insight into everyday prison life." This top-down game has been developed by Mouldy Toof Studios and has proved to be hugely popular.
There is one aim in The Escapists - to escape prison. Along the way you will need to acquire tools to help you escape, either by stealing them or by crafting them from other materials. You can improve your chances of escaping by taking part in activities such as exercise and reading. This will allow your character to level up, improving their abilities and strength in the process.
Of course you must try your best to avoid the wrath of the prison guards. To do so you must follow the daily routines such as eating prison meals and completing your little jobs. Don't get caught, because if you do your entire escape plan will be reset.
MX vs ATV Reflex - Xbox 360
This is the third in the highly-successful off-road racing series. In Reflex you can compete in motocross and supercross on a range of different motocross bikes and ATVs. Reflex has been built from the ground up and features a brand-new control system and the new Rhythm Racing 2.0 physics engine.
The new control system uses both of your controller's analogue sticks to give the player the ultimate control of his machine and rider. The new engine also makes the racing look better than ever, which real-time terrain deformation. Similar to the system used in the Motorstorm series, different vehicles will carve their way through the surface of the track - creating ruts, braking bumps and acceleration bumps.
I Am Alive - Xbox 360
This is not a game for the faint-hearted! I Am Alive is set in a post-apocalyptic America, one year on from a massive disaster which is simply known as The Event. Everything was destroyed during The Event, and with supplies now running low the survivors are beginning to turn violent and very, very bitter.
In technical terms, I Am Alive focuses on facing the permanent insecurity of a dystopian, decaying and hazardous world, and humanity's darkest inclinations towards brutality and materialism! Now that's a lot of big words to describe the world going crazy!
Players will take control of a survivor known as Carlo Mestroni, who is determined to rescue his wife and daughter. In his search for his family he will encounter many hostile enemies, as well as other lost survivors looking for help.
