Quirk Legends Review

Quirk Legends

Quirk, the wholly entertaining go-fish style card game. Quirk Legends the excellently entertaining addition to the Quirk family. How good is it? There are Dragons, Unicorns, Mermaids and all of the other best fantasy creatures to help get your Quirk on. Quirk Legends is a fantastic game.

Quirk! Legends - What is it?

Describing Quirk! as a go-fish style card game is only a small part of it. The game has more depth than simple go-fish, but is also just pure unadulterated fun when you want it to be. The point is to assemble the most Quirks (A Quirk is three of the same character card). Here is where the fun begins, since you don't just ask for those trolls (or demons or angels), you do your best troll impression - grumbling, snorting and miming the bridge you live under. The player you targeted will give you all of the matching Character Cards, otherwise you draw another card from the deck.

You place Quirks in front of you as soon as you have collected the three requisite characters (no hiding them in your hand). Once a Quirk is in open play the next card comes in - Tactic Cards. These are used to steal Quirks from other players. This replaces your opportunity to mime for another card to build new Quirks. Also the Tactic Cards can only be played if the 13 possible Quirks have not yet been played. So they need to be used strategically. You can play one of the three Defence Cards to stop someone from stealing your Quirk. The last card type is the Skip Card which can skip one of the other players turns.

Closing Thoughts on Quirk! Legends

If you are a fan of the Quirk! series you will instantly see the similarities. If you are a first time player you will instantly be enamoured. This is an excellent party game that improves with more players, but is still great with smaller numbers.

The nature of the game allows for house rules to spice things up if you play often. I would recommend that everyone have a copy of Quirk! Legends in their party play arsenal.
