Citadel Battle Figure Case Review

Citadel Battle Figure Case

Safe And Sound

The Citadel Battle Figure case is the second largest case that Citadel currently offers. Designed with a tough and sturdy outer shell, it guarantees protection on the most bumpy of journeys.

Although it doesn’t look like the largest storage solution out there, this case definitely has a lot to offer under the hood. The foam is soft yet sturdy and offers a lot of space to fit each of your miniatures into. The trays also fit snugly into the case itself and don’t move around while in transit.

I purchased this case in particular because Citadel is a well known brand and has a great reputation for its accessories. It was also the perfect size for the army I needed to store. Finally, it was a great price and offered a lot of storage for a good value.

Storage Unlike Any Other

Inside this sturdy figure case, you’ll find 4 trays of soft yet sturdy, pre-cut citadel foam. The gaps are cut into flexible zig-zag shapes so that they can bend around any weapons or stray limbs whilst holding them in place, and avoiding any breakages.

The gaps in the foam are just wide enough to allow for miniatures to slot in carefully, and the bases of the models sit flush on top of the tray without sticking out too much. I was able to fit around 15 miniatures into each of the trays, which averages out at around 60 models in total. At a guess, I would say that the Citadel Battle Figure case could hold around 1000-1500 points of any sized miniatures up to 50mm.

Of course, if you used models such as chainrasps or Dryads, you could probably fit around 25-30 of them comfortably into each tray. On the other hand, if you ran an army such as Sons of Behemoth; you’d struggle to fit more than a few in the box, and might have to cut through the layers to fit them in standing up.

If you do have an army that contains a lot of large vehicles, behemoths or dragons, you may want to opt for the larger of the three cases that are on offer. Especially as the trays included in the medium sized case aren’t tall enough the house the full height of a tank. On the other hand, if you have a small army for a skirmish game such as Kill Team, you might find the smallest of the three cases more optimal for the ground troops you’re running.

Soft Interior

The foam that Citadel has used for this case is beautifully soft, but still sits on the sturdy side. It holds the models tightly, but doesn’t press on the weapons or strain any of the spindly ethereal plastic that sticks out of particular models.

It’s also worth noting that this product has been on the market for years. I have friends that got one of these cases for their armies years ago, and they still look good as new after hundreds of uses. It just goes to show how these cases are built to last.

Final Thoughts

As far as other storage products on the market go, this is definitely one of the best out there. Although the price can seem a little steep for what it is, you’ll discover its true value the second you start to use it.

I love that it isn’t cardboard, and that it both looks and feels sturdy at first glance. The Citadel battle figure case is a sturdy made product that guarantees protection after use. Although the foam is flexible, it doesn’t feel like it's going to break as you move the miniatures from the case to the battlefield and back again.

The more I think about it, the more likely I am to buy the next size up for my larger armies. I know the standard of protection I’m going to receive with the citadel cases, and I’m unlikely to find the same unbeatable standard of product from any other make of case.
