The first major supplement for Legions Imperialis has been announced, The Great Slaughter! It will focus on the apocalyptic battles that took place in the Beta-Garmon system during the Horus Heresy, a key system for both sides as the primary route to Terra. The book includes over 50 pages of lore, maps and illustrations, so you can really absorb yourself in the events.
Rules-wise, it’s chock full of more options for your games of Legions Imperialis. First off it includes new formations and detachments for both Loyalists and Traitors, especially an exciting drop pod assault formation to hammer those Astartes home, and Mechanised and Super-Heavy formations for the Solia Auxilia.
For those who are eager to play campaigns in this ‘epic’ game, you need not wait any longer. The book includes two ways to play a campaign, Warfront and Conquest. Warfront campaigns are ideal for several players to face off against each other in a series of six battles, whereas Conquest uses a map and commanders have to capture key locations. Both sound great to me!
And last but definitely not least, is the new Titandeath game mode. During the battles of Beta-Garmon, thousands of titans and knights fought against one another, and you can re-enact that on your own battlefield. You might not need thousands of models, but this mode is based around forces of 6,000 points, all titans or knights, so it will be truly epic.
Hope to hear all about your own battles! In the meantime, I should hopefully have some more articles about Legions Imperialis for you soon!
