Naughty Nature
Nature is naughty! So Ginger Fox Games tell us! And when they say naughty, they mean school ground naughty! The sort of naughty where you giggle at the words “sticky willy!” If you just sniggered then reading that, then you should probably buy this game! It’s under a tenner and will make you laugh a whole lot more throughout! And in truth, you have just played the game!
Tufted Titmouse
The set up is simple. You deal out all the cards evenly. If anyone has any pairs, they shout them out and players all have a laugh over the words just screamed! “I’ve got two Woodcocks and I am slamming them on the table!” That type of vibe. Once all that business is over, play begins.
You are looking to get rid of all your cards in a Go Fish style. On your turn, you ask any player whether they have a specific card. You should ask for a card you need in order to make a pair with one of the cards you have in your hand. “Hey Nick, you got a Slippery Dick by any chance?”
If they have the card you ask for, they must give it to you, and you can place your two Slippery Dicks on the table. But mind you don’t put them too close to the Woodcocks, they may fight! Then you can ask any other player for any other card you need. You keep going until someone says no to your request. Play then moves to the next player, with the active player passing a card to the player on their left as the final act of their turn.
Blue-Footed Booby
Play continues until eventually there are only three cards left in play: two with one player and one with another. If you have one card and it is the Dik Dik card, you lose. There are only one of those, no chance to make a pair. The name 'Don't Be A Dik Dik' makes sense now, right?
If the player with two cards has the Dik Dik, its time for Dik Dik roulette! The player one with card chooses one card from the other player at random. If they match their pair, they win. If they pick the Dik Dik, they lose. Whoever loses, however this happens, must proudly declare, “I am a Dik Dik!” Then the game ends.
If all this sounds like a lot of fun, you are going to have a riot with Don't Be A Dik Dik.
“I’ve got one Stiffcock, but would really like another”
This game plays on the funny names found in the wild. Get ready for animals and plants with names that sound like body parts and rude words. It’s a simple mechanic, but sometimes simple is best! You will be questioning if “Family Jewels Milkweed” really does exist and, I am sure, will be googling the existence of the “Sparklemuffin!
This may initially sound like a great game to play with friends late in the evening after a few drinks. And I agree! It’s a perfect filler, starter or all-nighter! Enjoyment may well depend on the group you are with and the amount of “fun” you are having with your drink!
It could also be enjoyed in a family with older children, but you have to make the call yourself if you are comfortable with these types of words being used in your family. They are all just names or animals and plants, but I am not sure I would want my five-year-old daughter asking me for some of these cards! So, this is probably more suitable for adult gaming nights.
Wunderpus
I have had a lot of fun playing this game. It is more in the category of an adult game as you have seen with the card names. All games in part are made by the people you play them with. For Don’t be a Dik Dik, with the humour employed in this game, I would say that is even more important. This won’t work in every games session. But if you have a group that would find this funny, and you can see yourself falling on the floor in laughter after watching a friend ask for another “Giant Beaver” then look no further than Don't Be A Dik Dik!
