Signature Spellbook: Gideon contains exciting reprints that have seen extensive play in non-rotating formats. The eight white cards featured are: Gideon Jura, Martyr’s Bond, Path to Exile, Rest in Peace, Shielded by Faith, True Conviction, Worship, and Blackblade Reforged.

Path to Exile is one of Modern’s premier removal spells and Rest in Peace is white’s go-to sideboard card when it comes to graveyard hate. Worship is one of Modern’s most underrated sideboard cards, while Martyr’s Bond and Gideon Jura are popular cards in Commander decks as well as being casual favorites.

Wizards of the Coast decided to add a new twist to the artwork for the cards contained in this set by showcasing Gideon story arc through the art. Worship pictures Gideon giving his respects to Oketra’s Monument after what befell during the Amonkhet block. Path to Exile shows his battle against Demonlord Belzenlok, the fight that took place in Dominaria. Finally, the somber Rest in Peace depicts a statue that looks to have been built on Theros as tribute to the heroism that led to Gideon’s death in War of the Spark. Even more special, legendary Magic artist Richard Kane Ferguson was commissioned to do the art for Blackblade Reforged, the sword he originally painted on Dakkon Blackblade and used by Gideon Blackblade.
