Colt Express won the Spiel des Jahres award (Game of the Year) award in 2014. Off the back of that, it’s earned itself some excellent expansions – and here’s another one of them! The Colt Express Bandits Expansions are a series of six separate mini expansions. As well as each other, the players compete against an extra competitor for the train’s riches. This time, you’re playing against Belle, herself…

This expansion is for a slightly lower player count. Colt Express: Bandits – Belle allows 2-5 players to shoot, loot, and program their route throughout a 3D train. It’s a classic American West train robbery, where players have asymmetrical powers. Only this time, Belle isn’t one of the playable characters. She’s a rival bandit, also looking to strike it rich!

To an extent, you need to work together with your fellow bandits to ensure Belle doesn’t walk away with the prize. But remember, there can only be one winner in Colt Express – and that’s the richest bandit. Will it be you? Someone else around the table? Or will you suffer the indignity of Belle beating you to the loot?

Belle, as the ‘bot’, has a lust for jewels. If she has the option, her cowgirl meeple always moves closer to wherever the shiny things are! Belle’s deck of action cards has two asymmetrical actions within it. One is ‘Theft’, which lets her steal one jewel for every bandit in her location. With that in mind, you don’t want to all gang up on her! But this can become hard to resist, because…

…Her other action is ‘Charm’, which is like a siren call. This makes move all the bandits towards Belle’s current train location! The yellow Marshal, trying to keep the loot safe, has eyes for this seductress. Belle can make the Marshal dance to her jig, which means she doesn’t have to flee when he joins her in a train carriage.

With both beauty and brains, Belle is a formidable opponent in the Colt Express Bandits Expansion series.
