It seems like winter is finally behind us, along with a slow and dark year for us all. But it is finally time to look forward to brighter times and brighter weather. With the sun teasing us with its golden hue for a warmer more positive year, so too is Tabletop Gaming teasing us with the games we will be sinking our teeth into this year. The Virtual Tabletop Gaming Spring Showcase aims to bring a fresh start to the year, by introducing us to all-new gaming content that, fingers crossed, we can tentatively emerge from our homes and play with friends and family.
When is the Virtual Spring Showcase?
Mark the weekend of 27th-28th March on your calendar with a massive smiley face – that’s when the Virtual Tabletop Gaming Spring Showcase will be happening! The weekend will be jam-packed full of gaming news. There will be new announcements and early showcases. There will also be playthroughs and info on what our favourite developers and publishers have been up to. This showcase will mark the start of an exciting year for board gaming.
The Virtual Tabletop Gaming Spring Showcase will allow you to visit different ‘stands’. These will be done by a host of different publishers and retailers as if you were there for real. The atmosphere may not be the same as a real-life showcase. Yet the excitement is still prevalent and at least there is no chance of us missing anything! I like to scout as much content as I can. This will certainly appease my OCD demon at least. Large and small publishers alike have teased that they will be attending the showcase. There will likely be something for everyone to get excited about.
What to Expect from the Spring Showcase
There are a few things that we know will be shown over the weekend so far. For example, Ellie Dix will be showing us how to play her new stellar success Uranus! Isaac Childres will be introducing us to new classes, monsters, and an example scenario from Frosthaven. The very charismatic Ben from ‘Five Games For Doomsday’ will be talking us through some upcoming games he is looking forward to in the year. And my personal favourite so far, the creator of Necromolds will be showing us how to play their entry-level wizarding war game, which uses squishable play-dough models. This may be the game quirky enough to get me to try war games!
