Marvel decided to throw us all a bone by giving us a sneak peek into what we can expect from Thor: Ragnarok, in a teaser trailer. This November, the Asgardian hero will be back on the big screen in his third solo instalment.
As if we weren’t absolutely buzzing enough for the release of this movie; this teaser has elevated anticipation through the roof and it seems Thor is not having a good day as the beginning indicates where he is wrapped in chains falling through the air. As with any teaser release; not much is given away in this one - Thank You, Marvel- but there’s enough to get the gist of the story outline.
Thor (Chris Hemsworth) loses a battle with a recently released Hela (Care Blanchett- who looks amazing in the villainous role) who also destroys Mjolnir. Thor then somehow lands up on the other side of the universe and is captured by The Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum).
Meanwhile, Hela attacks Asgard and seems to single handily destroy the God-Haven. Thor, at the end of the teaser, seen in a welcomed new look, is in a gladiator-esque Colosseum ready to do battle awaiting his mystery opponent, an announcement sounds through the roaring masses, “Your Incredible… Hulk”, Thor bellows out in glee as The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) bursts into the arena and then humorously states, “We know each other… He’s a friend from work”.
The whole trailer boasts anarchy and destruction which is stylishly chaperoned by ‘Immigrant Song’ from Led Zeppelin- a song fit for the Asgardian chaos as it beats along with Jimmy Page’s riff.
It also shed enough light to glimpse Thor favourites in action Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Heimdall (Idris Elba) but also new comers; The Grandmaster, Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) and Skurge (Karl Urban).
Thor: Ragnarok is due to be released here in the UK on October 27. Credit to Marvel Entertainment for the trailer video.
