The Isle of Cats Duel Announced for 2024!

Cats. They’re an instant win in basically every persons book, and that's why The Isle of Cats was such a massive hit for folks, and sits highly as an excellent tile laying, pattern building game! In the original game, players must collect cats to rescue them before the evil Lord Vesh arrives, placing them on a boat as polyomino tiles and adorable cat meeples. So, what will the The Isle of Cats Duel version bring to the table?

Designed by Frank West, this version brings the same playful rescue themes in a streamlined, one-on-one experience, perfect for a quick yet strategic match.

In The Isle of Cats Duel, players navigate their own island boards, racing to rescue cats, find treasures, and complete lessons that can shift the game’s outcome. Duel replaces the card drafting from the original game with a new movement system. Guided by an Oshax cat, players take turns moving around the island. Where you move will determine which cats, treasures, and lessons you can access and will shape the options available to your opponent on their next turn.

The launch is planned for December 2024, and City of Games has announced that pre-orders will open during November.
