Steel Colosseum: An Introduction

Steel Colosseum Blog Graphic

Steel Colosseum is now live on Kickstarter! Steel Colosseum is Zatu's very first publishing project. Our team is working with designers James M Hewitt and Sophie Williams of Needy Cat Games to bring you a game of - quite literally - scrap fights.

James and Sophie have over a decade's experience in the tabletop games industry. They have worked on many amazing titles, such as Hellboy: The Board Game and Adeptus Titanicus.

Needy Cat Games specialises in creating awesome games and helping people get on their feet in the industry. As well as advising those looking to make a start in the world of board games, Needy Cat Games offers many different services to take ideas from good to great. They're a wonderful team, and we're very excited to be working with them.

If you're interested in hearing more about Needy Cat Games, we've got interviews with both James and Sophie where you can find out everything from their role in the development of the game to their favourite type of biscuit. Or you can head over to episode 15 of our podcast, where James makes an appearance to talk about game design.

Steel Colosseum

Somewhere deep inside a giant scrapyard, out in the dusty desert wasteland, robots duke it out in a stadium. The pilots are stationed in glass domes up above the arena, controlling their scrap contraptions via remote technology. With many great options for customisation, you can put together your own unique team of robots and operators to make the game your own. This is a world you can really get invested in as you play.

The concept of Steel Colosseum was first conceived over sushi - the food, not the party game! Talk of a wrestling game soon became warring robots. From there, Steel Colosseum steamrolled to fruition.

There are six unique robot designs and four operators, with a huge range of components for team customisation.

"I was blown away seeing the game in real life. The attention to detail from the map to the minis was fantastic and standing over everything I felt like I was watching a miniaturised Robot Wars."
