In today's board game spotlight we step into the world of an ancient civilisation as we take a look at Tzolk'in: The Mayan Calendar.

A game for two to four players, Tzolk'in is a dynamic worker placement game where each participant represents a different Mayan tribe.

The Game

Tzolk'in is a worker placement game at heart, but it has some great new features that really make it stand out. The game board is covered in interlocking gears, and as such each turn moves your workers on to different actions, making the placing or removal of these workers that much more important.

Thereby bringing programming to the worker placement genre. Tzolk'in also has many ways to win, putting real pressure on the creation of a deep strategy, and the utilisation of the games many moving components.

Player interaction within Tzolk'in is also prominent, featuring heavily if indirectly like many Euro style games. For the budding strategists Tzolk'in is a real challenge.
