Upper Deck were formed in 1988 and started out as a manufacturer of Major League Baseball cards. These cards become a huge hit and quick quickly sell-out, even before they hit the shelves. In 1990 they expanded into the National Hockey League (NHL), National Football League (NFL) and the National Basketball Association (NBA).
This achievement meant that Upper Deck were the first trading card company in 10 years to be licensed by all four leagues. The company have also worked with franchises such as World of Warcraft, Yu-Gi-Oh! and DC.
Upper Deck Entertainment is the division that works on the company's board games. Alongside the Alien Deck Building Game, there has also been a Marvel Deck Building Game and a Predator Deck Building Game - both of which have expansions.
