At the 2025 London Toy Fair, Ravensburger unveiled a series of exciting updates to their popular Disney Villainous board game franchise! The announcements included a new all-ages game, an expanded global tournament circuit, and new expansions—one of which is set in the Star Wars universe.
Lysa Penrose, Head of New Games Marketing at Ravensburger, explained the company’s motivation behind these updates: “We know how much players enjoy the immersive experience, stunning artwork, and unique style of Villainous. A common request from fans has been for a more accessible version for families or younger players who might not have time for a longer strategy game. Disney Villainous Unstoppable! was designed with this in mind, bringing that same storytelling magic to a quicker, more traditional game format that fits right in with other game night favourites.”
Set to release this summer, Disney Villainous Unstoppable! introduces a shared gameplay board, simplifying the asymmetrical rules of the original game. Designed for 2-4 players, the new edition features four classic Disney villains - Hades, Maleficent, Scar, and Ursula - each with their own realm filled with original artwork. Players will work to outwit each other and classic Disney heroes while collecting tokens and taking actions to complete their villainous plans.
In addition to the new game, Ravensburger also revealed an expanded global tournament circuit. New events will be held in France, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, and Australia, joining the existing North American tournaments at Gen Con and PAX Unplugged. To make the game even more accessible to local communities, Ravensburger is introducing the Disney Villainous Night Out organised play kit, designed for friendly local gaming stores to host their own Villainous events.
Lastly, Ravensburger teased upcoming standalone expansions for the Villainous series. Among them is the first live-action Disney villain (though the specific character remains under wraps) and a brand-new Star Wars themed game. More details about these expansions are expected to be revealed later this year.
With these updates, Disney Villainous fans are in for an exciting 2025!
