What are Yu-Gi-Oh! Speed Duels?

Speed Dueling is similar to the Yu-Gi-Oh! mobile game Duel Links, but in real life, with smaller decks & fields, half the Life Points, character-based skills and a custom card pool. Speed Duels are super affordable and you’re building a deck from a much smaller card pool compared to the Advanced Format. There is also currently no Forbidden or Limited list, meaning you can play every card in the pool!

20 Skill Cards

8 (of 24) Secret Rares

4 Two-Player Deluxe Game Mats

3 of your included Secret Rares will be the coveted Egyptian God cards, Obelisk the Tormentor, Slifer the Sky Dragon and The Winged Dragon of Ra. The other 5 Secret Rares are randomly picked from the set of 21.

The two-player game mats are a nice touch. They theoretically allowing up to 4 games (all 8 players) to take place simultaneously as you play through a tournament.

24 Secret Rares to collect

Alongside the 3 Egyptian God cards, there is a pool of 21 Secret Rares to collect. Each Battle City Box guarantees you 5 random Secret Rares (in addition to your God cards) so look out for Duel Monsters classics such as Blue-Eyes White Dragon, Dark Magician and Red-Eyes Black Dragon.

Brand-new Skill Cards!

A cool thing about Speed Duels is that you can build a deck revolving around certain skills like Twisted Personality or Cocoon of Ultra Evolution. The Battle City Box introduces brand-new Skill Cards. Also there’s some reprints that were only available as promos through Yu-Gi-Oh! Day events.

The skill card “It’s Jinzo!” has the ability to protect your Jinzo for multiple turns, not only that, you could also draw EACH TURN while you have a Jinzo on the field.

Refreshingly quick to get to grasps with, the Speed Duel: Battle City Box is perfect for people tempted by the idea of a fun TCG.  Especially if they’re intimidated by the pressure of building decks and learning the meta. If you’re returning to Yu-Gi-Oh! after 10-15 years away from the game, the nostalgia of this set will pull you right back into the action. It’s also incredibly good value for money, with everything that’s included in the box. Pick up one to try it out, or get your hands on three to make sure you have playsets of all the best cards.
