Description

The house on the hill has a wicked reputation. Those who dare to darken its door often leave steeped in madness and despair — if they leave at all.

Now the horror reaches new heights with Widow's Walk, the first-ever expansion for the critically acclaimed board game Betrayal at House on the Hill. The house is expanded with the addition of twenty new rooms, including the roof, a previously unexplored floor. Also in its halls you will find new monsters, items, omens, events, and fifty brand-new haunts, penned by lead developer Mike Selinker's all-star cast of contributors from the world of gaming and entertainment. In Widow's Walk, terror and panic are taken to a whole new level.

Enter if you dare. Exit if you can...

It’s a graveyard smash! Yes, players are now able to do the Monster Mash, what more needs to be said? With there being almost 10 years between the release of The Betrayal at the House on the Hill and this first ever expansion, you can ensure that the popular demand pushed from the game community sparked the wonderful and terrifying creation that is Widow’s Walk.

The Game

As expected, Widow’s Walk (from Avalon Hill Games) adds a variety of new items, omens and events to enjoy alongside new rooms and an entirely new floor to explore. By widening the variety of these components, a refreshing experience is added to all of the original haunts, adding further replay-ability to the base game.

New mechanics like the dumbwaiter allows for further mobility, in a loveable Scooby-Doo fashion, players can now find new ways to explore and flee the hauntings of the house. But the highlight of the Widow’s Walk expansion are the 50, highly anticipated, brand new haunts. Brought to us by an all-star cast of writers, who have come together across the gaming and entertainment platforms, to create an absolute treasury of fantastic stories and scenarios.

With the light-hearted fun and laughter of the Monster Mash, reunite with all of the epic monsters from the base game to throw the wildest party that ever went down in the house on the hill. Or how about testing your drama skills in an attempt to win the leading part in your very own horror movie?

However, in order to succeed, first you must kill off the other contending actors… But despite the fun of these sillier scenarios, Widow’s Walk upholds the terror and thrill of both classic and innovative horror stories. Further praise must be given for the creative ways the Widow’s Walk haunts immerse players in new ways to interact with the stories, with various quirky outer game actions and fun to be had.

Final Thoughts on Widow’s Walk

Widow’s Walk guarantees a suspenseful and thrilling kind of fun, oozing with plenty of pop culture references which all horror fanatics will appreciate and love. A thrilling surprise lies within each game, with suspense creeping up with every roll of the dice, every flip of the card and place of the tile, each turn leading you closer and closer to the terrible revelation of which one of your fellow party members will betray you!

Although the reliability of your party will be somewhat questionable, you can rest assured that all fans of Betrayal at the House on the Hill will love to take on the terrors of Widow’s Walk.
