Description

Don't put all of your eggs into one basket and try What the Cluck! A classier hen do game which will let you rule the roost at any hen do, girl's night in or just any gathering really!

Coming from the mother hen, Big Potato Games, What the Cluck puts the bride-to-be in the spotlight, they are in charge of all of the proceedings. And yes, bridezillas are also welcome.

In this egg-celent party game, the hen in the group will peck 16 questions they want to ask about themselves. Everyone else will need to split off into teams and get answering. To win, teams must write their answers on random bingo sheets, then deliver them to the hen. Are you the biggest comedi-hen? Prove it in this witty, silly, party game. Winner, winner, chicken dinner as they say.

What The Cluck is a game targeted at hen parties, but could be enjoyed by any group of friends looking for a game to organise their day around. Or maybe just to get things started! In this box is everything you need to get the party going with most groups in a well packaged and clearly explained way.

First drink is on me!

The game plays very simply. You may have played something similar before. Find someone to be the star of the show. At a hen party, clearly this should be the bride to be! It is then up to them to make the game play however they like. As the quizmaster they’ll need to choose 16 questions for their friends to answer about them! There is a huge pile of pre-written questions in the box for you to choose from. While you won’t need to make any questions up, you can definitely tailor them to you and your group. Some are a little more risqué than others!

The questions range from things like “What’s my favourite film?” Or, “How tall am I in feet and inches?” Or more personal things like “My most embarrassing date?” And “Where’s the most random place I’ve had sex?” To the more scream inducing “What’s my best ‘poo’ story?” And “Which celebrity would I have a threesome with?” I am unsure as to what sort of stories fall under the “poo story” category, why any of your friends would know any about you or indeed why any exist in the first place! But if there are some, and you think your friends may know one of them, I suppose this is going to elicit a lot of laughter!

The choice is yours!

In What The Cluck, it really is up to you what sort of game and experience you want to have. There are a lot of questions to choose from and you only need 16. What’s more, each card is double-sided, with a pink and green side. So, it is easy to go from one colour to another to avoid any repetition. But of course, the same questions can easily be used for the next victim – sorry – quizmaster!

As there are so many questions to pick from, for a smooth game experience I would recommend choosing your 16 before you start, perhaps a day before of over breakfast with your group? This will mean you don’t have to wait for the hen or quiz master to make their selections when the fun should be starting. This may take a bit of planning, but what’s a hen do without some organisation! I think you already know which of your friends will do this, don’t you?

Who knows me best?

Your friends will then split into equal teams and do their best to prove their worth at the party by showing off their knowledge of you to win the game. It’s good here to try and get friends to mix up. School friends with university and work friends jumbled up to cover all funny stories and eras of your life! What the Cluck is a great way to get people mingling in a large group if they don’t know each other too well. If you are going to have organised fun on your hen do, best to do it early to break the ice and over a few glasses of bubbles!

The game works in a” bingo style” as the teams then write their answers on four by four sheets. They are laid out in a grid numbered 1 to 16. As the hen or quizmaster reads out the questions, the teams put their guesses into the corresponding numbered box. Once all 16 are done, the answers are revealed. If a team gets four-in-a-row in a straight line, they win! Scream “bingo” over-enthusiastically and create a scene you can talk about for the rest of the night. You can win for a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal row of four. You can therefore have multiple four-in-a-row victories.

The game provides some nice ways to reward these victories. The hen or quizmaster can write on ”Bank of me” cheques that they place into two envelopes at the start. These are then given to the team who gets the first four-in-a-row. There is also one for the star prize, awarded to the team who gets the most correct answers. It’s up to you what prizes you give or indeed how many you offer per game. Again, this can be suited to the group you are in. Drinks, dances, song forfeits!? Maybe its not a prize at all, and more a dare? Whatever you have planned for later in the day or whatever may float your group’s boat! Or make sure your rich friend wins the “dinner on me” prize!

What the Cluck: Final Thoughts

There are plenty of questions in the box, as I said, and a lot of answers sheets, so this could be a one-off game, or perhaps give a few people a chance to be the quiz master. You could also play in a way where you ask the partner of the hen to answer some questions about them and you need to guess what they said. This would need a bit of pre-planning but would be worth the effort, I would wager!

As with all games like What The Cluck, the fun is heavily reliant on the group. But packaged in this tidy and attractive box is everything you need to have a really good time. I think for a hen night or equivalent scenario, this game is bound to create a lot of laughs and a lot of fun!
