Description

If a Hive Fleet’s vanguard infestation is not detected by a planet’s denizens, it is most likely that they will only detect the invasion proper when the skies are blotted out by uncountable masses of sporecysts**, Gargoyles, Harpies and Hive Crones. Off all the airborne bioforms in the Tyranid arsenal, Hive Crones and Harpies are perhaps the most insidious and dangerous.

Monstrous and snake-like, Hive Crones glide overhead unleashing hordes of tentaclid spores when threatened by nearby fighter craft. These living bombs stream towards their target with unerring accuracy before exploding in a shower of acid which will eat through even the most reinforced ceramite plating. A Hive Crone’s gut-wrenching scream is often the last thing many fighter pilots ever hear.

Whereas Hive Crones dominate the air, Harpies lead hordes of Gargoyles in hit-and-run attacks that devastate defensive emplacements. Perfectly adapted for air-to-ground combat Harpies can be seen wielding monstrous bio-cannons and unleashing spore-mine payloads on their foes below. These mines consciously seek out their targets; an attack by a Harpy will often force a retreat regardless of losses as the area is soon found to be saturated with these living mines.

This is a multi-part plastic kit consisting of 69 components on two sprues providing all the parts to create either a Harpy or Hive Crone. The Harpy can be armed with a Twin-Linked Stranglethorn Cannon or Twin-Linked Venom Cannon and unique head. The Hive Crone is armed with a Drool Cannon, Tentaclid extras. The kit also comes with three separate Spore Mines. The kit is supplied with one large oval flier base and three 25mm bases for the spore mines.

Pairing either multiple Harpies or Hive Crones with a Winged Hive Tyrant creates an incredibly fast moving and deadly unit. Place them in a Leviathan detachment for additional survivability. Don’t feel that Hive Crones are limited to fighting fliers only, their Drool Cannon makes very short work of medium infantry like squads of tactical marines, while tentaclids work well on all vehicles.

Be warned, Harpies and Hive Crones will draw a lot of fire early as they do not benefit from cover, cannot be easily hidden and can cause a lot of mortal wound damage early.
