The Catan: Seafarers 5-6 Player Extension delivers exactly what you’d expect: it does what it says on the tin! This is an extension to a previous expansion for Catan: Seafarers. When it was first released, Catan: Seafarers was for 3-4 players only. But not any more! Thanks to this extension, you can now invite a fifth or sixth player onto the high seas.
First came the roaring success that was Catan – the 1995 winner of the Spiel des Jahres. It’s a modern classic, and so popular that it’s spawned numerous add-ons and spin-offs. The first of many was the Seafarers expansion. The core of the game is the same. You’re still rolling dice and gaining resources according to your settlements. You’re still trading with your rivals.
Seafarers introduced a whole bunch of extra scenarios into the fold. Now you can design archipelagos with extra, smaller, offshore islands. You can create two large islands split by a ‘river’. You can create a second island with terrain as of yet unknown (you’ll have to sail there to see what riches lie in wait)! Or you can design your own layout! All of these scenarios require you build ships to extend your network across the water. This 5-6 Player Extension provides all the items needed to allow a fifth and sixth player to join in.
Please note that Catan: Seafarers 5-6 Player Extension is an add-on pack. It expands the gameplay for Catan. It is not a standalone product. To play this extension (as you might have guessed) you’ll need to combine it with other Catan games. This cannot play without the base game of Catan itself. You’ll also need the Catan: 5-6 Player Extension, and Catan: Seafarers.
