Description

Gujuguju is a fast, easy and fun party game with a unique rule.

Start with a number of fruit cards face up on the table, then divide the other cards equally among the players. On a turn, a player names one of the four types of fruit in the game, then flips over a card from their deck onto a face-up card of this type. If they reveal the same type of fruit that they named, everyone races to cover all of these fruits with cards from their personal deck. Whoever rids their hand of cards first wins!

Fruity Fun

Fast paced? YES! Kid friendly? YES! Funny fruit faces? YES! A complex set of rules that requires hours of reading before playing? NO! That’s all that awaits you when you play the wonderful, fun game of Guju Guju.

Rules & Components

It is a very basic game that provides a lot of entertainment. The game comes with a simple two page instruction booklet and 120 fruit cards. The fruits are pear, banana, strawberry, and lemon.

The setup is quick as you simply shuffle the deck, spread out 13 cards across the center of the table with the fruit side up, and then deal 20 cards to each player fruit side down. Any extra cards go back in the box.

The play starts with the person who last ate a banana. They first look at the fruit already on the table and call out one of them, for example “Pear”. They then flip over their top card and then one of two things happens. One, if it is a different fruit than what they called out, they place their card on the table. Two, if it is the same as they called out, then everyone races to cover the called out fruit cards (in this example it would be pear) as fast as you can. Once all called out fruit cards have been covered, play continues to the left.

One quick note, if you cover a pear card with another pear, cover that new pear again. There can be no cards of the called out fruit on the table.

Now we are all human and mistakes can be made. So when you cover the wrong fruit, you need to take that card and all the cards in its pile (if there is one) and place them at the bottom of your deck.

Winner is the one who gets rid of all their cards first and shouts “Guju Guju!”

BOOM! That’s it.

Final Thoughts

Guju Guju is a fantastic and super quick game. You can play it for as long as you want or set it for best of three, or best of five, or even best of 999!

It is definitely kid friendly but adults will have an enjoyable time as well. I really have nothing bad to say about this game at all. The only gripe I have is that the strawberry cards should have two eyes (they only have one eye). The pear has one eye, the lemon has three eyes, and the banana has four. If the strawberry had two eyes it would make it a nice consecutive one, two, three, four. But that’s just me.
