Dungeons & Dragons Nolzur’s Marvelous Miniatures come with highly-detailed figures, primed and ready to paint out of the box. These fantastic miniatures include deep cuts for easier painting. Little to no assembly required
Primed and ready to paint
Some miniatures include translucent parts

It is dark, the wind howls outside and after a long day of adventuring. Sleep is drawing nearer, but nature calls. In dark the adventurer slips into the night to relieve themselves. They open the outhouse door with bleary eyes. Since when did outhouses have eyes and teeth?

The Giant Mimic is one of the most well-used monsters in Dungeons and Dragons, and usually for comedic purposes. A monster that disguises itself as anything can be a joy to set upon any unsuspecting party. During an attack the Mimic will attempt to stick to and swallow any hero who gets too close. The appeal of this mini is the fact it is an outhouse. When the adventurer is most vulnerable is the best time to strike.

As per usual Nolzur’s Marvelous Miniatures, it came primed and ready to paint. At around 2 inches high, the mini is nicely detailed, well sculpted and amusing. I was pleased to find that the door opens and closes which allows the DM the ability to surprise their players.

The miniature itself was relatively easy to paint. A few tight spaces around the teeth are made slightly easier by the ability to remove the tongue.

As I painted I did have issues with the top hinge coming out of place, however I believe that it was a skill issue rather than any flaw in the design.

Paints Used

Overall, I think this Giant Mimic miniature is well worth purchasing, even as just a novelty.

But if you do decide to use this mini in your campaign, I recommend reminding your players to remember to always look before they sit.
