Clank! Catacombs Announced

Clank! Catacombs
Clank! Catacombs

Make some noise! A new version of Clank! has been announced - this time returning to the dungeon delving origins in Clank! Catacombs. Dire Wolf released the following about the new standalone game in the Clank! series:

“Leave the board behind with CLANK! Catacombs, a stand-alone deck-building adventure!

The catacombs of the skeletal dragon Umbrok Vessna are mysterious and dangerous. Portals transport you all around the dungeon depths. Wayshrines offer vast riches to intrepid explorers. Prisoners are counting on you to free them. Ghosts, once disturbed, may haunt you to death.

Each trip into the catacombs is unique, as you lay tiles to create the dungeon. You can play using only the all-new Dungeon Deck, or include cards from previous CLANK! expansions.

Find your fortune (and escape the dragon!) in CLANK! Catacombs.”

From the pictures and the release, it appears the new evolution of Clank! is a tile-laying twist, reminiscent of Carcassonne. An ever-expanding and infinitely replayable board will bring a whole new challenge to those who are used to the deck building system but is fully approachable for those who are completely new.

I’ve only played Clank! once, but I do love a good deck builder and a game with a lot of replayability in it. From what little has been released so far, Clank! Catacombs is sure to tick both of these boxes. Expect to see the latest edition of the noisy dungeon delver in the autumn of this year.
