The critically acclaimed board game MicroMacro: Crime City is stepping into new territory with the announcement of a child-friendly version, MicroMacro Kids. This fresh take on the award-winning detective game is set to make it easier for families with younger players to enjoy!
What’s New in MicroMacro Kids
This child-friendly iteration softens the darker, crimier (that's a word, right? crimey? Crimish? You catch my drift) themes of its predecessor, replacing them with light hearted mysteries. Players will tackle tasks like finding a lost dog, helping fluffy bunnies locate carrots, or uncovering a dinosaur bone. With 22 distinct cases of increasing difficulty and an additional 44 mini search-and-find tasks, MicroMacro Kids offers (what I believe will be) a much much loved revamp.
Playable by 1-4 players, the game has an estimated playtime of 15-45 minutes per session. True to the original’s roots, MicroMacro Kids retains its intricate art style - this kid version still won't be an easy task!
Michael Schmitt, founder of Edition Spielwiese, shared his enthusiasm for the project:
"MicroMacro was never intended as a children's game, but we recognized its appeal to younger players. Now, with the help of a freelance editor who was responsible for Children's Game of the Year at Ravensburger, we've created a game just as thrilling as the Crime City series.”
Rob Trounce, Marketing Manager of Hachette Boardgames UK, added:
“I’ve spent countless hours poring over MicroMacro maps — they’re some of the most innovative, narratively rich tabletop games out there. I’m thrilled to share that magic with a new generation through MicroMacro Kids.”
Release and Availability
MicroMacro Kids will debut at the London and New York Toy Fairs, as well as Spielwarenmesse in Nuremberg, giving fans an early look at the game ahead of its official release in April 2025.
