Leeds University Sci-Fi And Fantasy Society

Welcome to the Leeds University Union Science Fiction & Fantasy Society

We are THE board gaming society at Leeds University with a selection of over 100 board games! Our society dates back to prehistoric times of D&D, Cosmic Encounter and Dungeon Quest and nowadays just about any kind of geeky goodness you can imagine!

We have regular weekly showings with a variety of awesome sci-fi and fantasy content for you to watch and an astonishing amount of gaming events going on all over the society – including table top role-play, war-gaming, card gaming, board gaming, video games etc… along with a library of over two thousand books, comics, rule-books and fact-files, anyone who’s interested in classic sci-fi and fantasy literature is well catered for!

Full info on our activities is available from our Facebook page.

One of our most consistent events is a seven-hour long board gaming day usually held at the Leeds University Union, 15.00 – 22.00, every Saturday in rooms on the second floor. We own a great selection of games which are either quick party games for many people or more demanding games that usually require four players. Each week we feature games of different difficulty to try and lists of all of our games can be found at our online booklets of long games and quick games.

Do not be afraid of trying a new game and don’t get discouraged if some games in this booklet seem too complicated. The best way to learn a new game is to play it a couple of times! Among our members you’re bound to find someone who’s already played it and can explain the rules very quickly. In the beginning you may dislike the game, but after a couple of tries you’ll grasp the mechanics and be dragging other people into it non-stop!

The most important thing to remember is to have fun and enjoy what our society has to offer. We kindly accept any great game propositions from our members and thanks to the great sponsorship we have with Zatu Games, we’re able to get our hands on new games quickly and enjoy playing them nearly every week throughout the year.
