Innovation is something I want to see more of in games. Well AEG have taken the popular deck building mechanic and added a new twist in Mystic Vale.

TOP TITLES FROM ALDERAC ENTERTAINMENT GROUP

SMASH UP

The “shufflebuilding” game Smash Up starts with a simple premise: Take the twenty-card decks of two factions, shuffle them into a forty-card deck, then compete to smash more Bases than your opponents! Each unique faction brings a different game mechanism into play. Play as unique combinations such as the Pirate-Aliens and the Wizard-Zombies.

LOVE LETTER PREMIUM

Love Letter might not come with a stack of components, its theme might not fire your imagination, but gameplay is king and thanks to its elegant design, it’s great fun. Players are constantly engaged, trying to bluff convincingly or deduce what their rivals are hiding, and because it’s so fast there’s little time for anyone to get bored, even in a four-player game.

DICE CITY

The Kingdom of Rolldovia is in turmoil. Her royal highness, the Queen, has decreed that there will be a new capital after the old one was sacked by hordes of barbarians and bandits from the south. As leaders of one of the country’s influential noble families, players vie with each other to establish their provincial city as the best home for Rolldovia’s new capital.

THE CAPTAIN IS DEAD

The Captain Is Dead is a co-op game for 2 to 7 players. All you have to do is get the ship's engines (aka "Jump Core") back online and you win, but because there is a hostile alien ship trying to destroy you, that is easier said than done. Each member of your crew has special abilities and skills, and you're going to need to work as a team to maximise potential.

SPACE BASE

Space Base is a quick-to-learn, quick-to-play dice game using the core "I roll, everyone gets stuff" mechanism seen in other games. It's also a strategic engine builder using a player board (your space base) and tableaus of ship cards that you can purchase and add to your board. This is a game you can pick up and teach within the first round or two!

MYSTIC VALE

In Mystic Vale, layers take on the role of druid clans trying to cleanse the curse upon the land. Each turn, you play cards into your field to gain powerful advancements and useful vale cards. Use your power wisely, or decay will end your turn prematurely. Score the most victory points to win the game! Will you be able to overcome the viscous curse?

SAKURA ARMS

Sakura Arms is a two-player duelling game in which players first choose two of seven megami (Japanese goddesses), each of which has a different keyword which empowers some of their cards. The gameplay at its core is simple, and due to its limited environment, it is relatively easy to learn the cards for a deck building game. Will you be victorious?

THINK IT UP

How many professions starting with the letter “M” can you name in a minute? Who can come up with the longest first name starting with “U”? Who can call the shortest drink starting with “R”? Think It Up! is a game for parties and family get-togethers. Each turn you draw letter and category cards, then show your great skills of reaction - can you find the correct word?
